Tar and Sand Candle Business Takes Off in Florida
Joyous and Sunny can't make enough of the candles. People are buying them like hotcakes. "Take place hurricane season, these little tar ball candles are gonna come in very handy," said Happy. "Kinda ironic isn't it? Folks don't prerequisite the hurricanes to come cause they'll whip that oil right-wing onto the shore, but these here tar ball candles will keep them from bumping around in the dark after the electricity goes off. I'd say God might honest have a little hand in all this yet," he said smiling. "And, we may upstanding make enough money to get the brakes fixed on the Caravan."British Open: Tom Watson, 60, is back for more
Add them up, though, and they number for something.
"The loss is hard to take," Watson said Wednesday. "As I said then, it tore my guts up. But my guts have been torn up out here, in this daring."
Lacerated innards or not, he is here, at the Old Course , for the 139th British Outspread that begins Thursday, his 33rd appearance in the tournament. Watson is 60 years old, an age by which he should not even be in situation to make such meaningful shots, to be considered a potential contender here, yet he could be considered honest that. What he did a year ago this week at Turnberry rejuvenated his legendary but at bottom dormant career, overshadowed Stewart Cink's playoff supremacy, and presented a question that could arise when major championships are held at venues such as the Old Progression, where knowledge and cunning trump length and brawn as the fundamental determinants of the champion.
How old is too old?
"God, I hope a 60-year-old guy can do that," Watson said. "That would be euphonious cool."
A year ago, on the Wednesday before play began, 59 certainly seemed too old. The oldest grave champion then -- and, as it turns out, still -- was Julius Boros, who won the 1968 PGA Championship at 48. Now? Watson knows he has been approached by people who drew something from watching him effect the lead to the 72nd tee, folks who might now think differently about blowing out still more candles on each outburst cake.
