Some regime officials have relied largely on the advice of a feng shui master and fortune-teller before making grave decisions, China Review magazine reported.
The lot teller, who declined to be identified, made huge sums by "pointing out the forthwith way" for officials, according to the latest edition of the Beijing-based armoury, which did not say where the feng shui master is based.
Several years ago a township cadre asked the feng shui governor to predict his future.
He told the official that he was very likely to be promoted in three months, which came accurately.
The official was promoted to personnel director of the county.
The feng shui wizard was paid fees ranging from 1,000 yuan (US$147) to 5,000 yuan each rhythm for his services.
