MYRTLE BEACH—It has been about 2 months since the foreclosure system began, but management and businesses in The Market Common grant, this has been their busiest summer yet.
The manager of the Aveda Salon and Spa says no one deep down thinks about the foreclosure.
“Really nothing has changed, I feel like I’ve seen a big bourgeon in walk-through traffic here, I don’t think it’s uncommonly affected any of the stores around us,“ said Danielle Lipps.
Lipps says they’ve had a lot more pathway-in customers than previous years, and sales have gone up 33% since last summer.
“We as a matter of fact had our best week since October of 2008 last week. We’ve seen a big widen in business, especially because tourism is up I feel like,“ said Lipps.
Across the road at Gordon Biersch, it’s pretty much the same story.
“Vocation has been good, I mean we’ve had normal summertime conveyance and every year our sales have been increasing,“ said executive Heather Helms.
Sales at Gordon Biersch are up 8 to 10% from last summer, and Helms says they’ve steadily increased since they opened in 2007.
According to Helms, the foreclosure hasn’t slowed trade.
“I really don’t think it’s had any affect because, you distinguish, right now we’ve got primarily tourists and they really don’t be acquainted with anything about it. And I think the locals that do know about it, it’s not extremely affecting whether they come to Market Common,“ said Helms.
