Team appears to be working spa sales scam, police warn
A salesgirl's pitch for a deal on a spa package that seems too good to be true could be tied to a scam in the Santa Maria and Orcutt areas, according to Santa Maria the long arm of the law.
Lt. Jerel Haley said there are a number of suspects, both virile and female, who appear to be working the scam as a team.
Victims of the tenable sales marketing scam have been approached in public areas by salespersons gift "spa packages" to local area day spas, police said. Using elevated-pressure sales tactics, the scammers use high-quality printed fliers to champion bogus spa services people would get by buying the package, watch said. The fliers feature names, logos and artwork of specific spas, police said, however, the packages being sold by the suspects are not authorized by the businesses.
After buying a box, a victim contacted a spa and was told the offer does not get by.
Anyone who is a victim of this scam or this type of scheme is encouraged to connection their local law enforcement agency and file a report.
To defend yourself from being cheated, be suspicious of direct marketing sales of this type and connection the business directly to check the authenticity of the offer before making a buy, boys in blue said.
Berlusconi plays down Fiat plan to make new car in Serbia
MILAN — Prime Father Silvio Berlusconi on Friday played down a plan by Fiat to reveal a new car in Serbia, saying that he hoped the move would not hurt Italian workers.
"In a let loose economy and a free state, an industrial group is at liberty to locate where its production is the most convenient," Berlusconi said at a union news conference in Milan with visiting Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Three members of Berlusconi's focal point-right government earlier slammed Fiat's arrangement to produce a new multi-purpose car, dubbed the L-Zero, in Serbia.

Fiat boss Sergio Marchionne argued that the batch wanted to avoid "unnecessary risks" after months of unfruitful negotiations with Italian unions.
"We have to be able to make cars without seeing bustle stop," he told La Repubblica.
Italian Labour Cur Maurizio Sacconi on Friday called a meeting next week between the regime, Fiat management and the unions "to examine the Fiat map out and its repercussions on Italian production sites".
European Affairs Clergyman Andrea Ronchi also condemned the plan, saying: "At a every so often old-fashioned of great crisis like the one we are facing, from which Italy is recovering by making unyielding sacrifices, it hurts to hear about outsourcing plans."
