Restaurateur back in the kitchen after 25 years

And the new intimate of what was once Rachel's Bakery is homey, with warm peach and periwinkle walls and flowered tablecloths.

The perfume of fresh-baked bread floats from the kitchen as workers oxen the shelves with new loaves.

Born and raised in Minden, McInerney has been in the culinary enterprise before. In the 1980s, she owned and operated K and W Country Restaurant, where the Village Chalet now stands.

Then, after about eight years of unceasing the restaurant, McInerney's life took her in a different road.

"As a single mother with two young kids, I just found it was too much," she said.

McInerney then embarked on a 25-year calling in advertising sales, working for publications and television and crystal set stations in Toronto and Peterborough.

Moving back to Minden a few years ago, she found a job selling ads for the Minden Times.

However, McInerney said she'd been toying with the opinion of opening a restaurant for nearly five years and when the opportunity to buy Rachel's Bakery surfaced, she took it.

After all, she had a sovereignty to reclaim.

"I used to be famous for my butter tarts, until Jeanne Anthon came along," she said. "I prospect to regain my title."

McInerney left the paper in February and was nary seen for many a month as she and her together performed renovations on the building.

successful week!!

3. Stocked up at the agriculturist's supermarket. i recognize i've mentioned how much bills i protect at the Stock Exchange every weekend before, but this week i made secure to buy lots and lots of veggies.. and artificial myself to use them. i made eggplant parmesan (baked, not fried), pasta pomodoro (with chicken soul, zucchini, tomatoes and a ton of newfangled basil), stuffed bell peppers (with skinny organize beef), boiled corn on the cob (so sickening and palatable it didn't prerequisite butter), and lots of snacking on carrots and celery.
